Linoy Ashram Israeli Gymnast

Teenage Israeli rhythmic gymnast Linoy Ashram has won at least 24 medals in rhythmic gymnastics. She has became the first Jewish person born in Israel to win a silver medal in the World Championships of the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, specifically in the subcategory of hoop, though she is competent in all categories including hoop, clubs, ball, and ribbon.

"Mazal tov,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu telephoned the young gymnast after her “awesome achievement” bringing home silver in the championships in Sofia. "You make us all 'stretch' with pride."

Linoy began training in rhythmic gymnastics at the age of seven and competed internationally for the first time at age 12. Now in her late teenage years, Linoy has won numerous championships or respectively placed in such competitions as the Moscow Grand Prix, World Games, World Championships, and the European Championships. She has also participated in the Youth Olympic Games in China.

Ashram just won three more gold medals in the hoops, clubs, and ribbons categories at the Grand Prix Marbella competition in Spain this past spring, and is poised to bring home more medals at the 2020 Olympic Games to be hosted in Tokyo, Japan.
