I’ve written in a previous article about Reuben Caplin (Ruby), my voice teacher and choral conductor at the reform temple that I sang at many years ago; well here’s another Ruby story.

Bobby and I were friends for as long as I can remember. We not only had a bond of close friendship, but we respected one another. Bobby had a terrific hands on knowledge of many things that eluded me, and I was the thinker. It was a great combination!

I remember coming home from school many times and being very angry. Good thing my favorite person, Bubbe, was there to greet me. She always had a way to soothe my feelings. She said to me in Yiddish, “When you calm down, we’ll talk.” After I finally did calm down we talked.
