The Thing You Will Never See Again

The Thing You Will Never See Again

Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again." (Exodus 14:13)

Do you ever feel like you will never be free from the oppression? Are people taking advantage of you?  Are you or someone you love suffering from the thoughtlessness or purposeful cruelty of others? Is the amount of injustice done in this life discouraging? When you turn on the news it may seem like all the evil in this world will never cease but we can look past appearances and know we have God’s assurance that the “Egyptians” of our life will one day be a thing of the past, and the sorrows caused by eviler doers will never been seen again.

The Bible says, “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.  Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” (Psalm 37:1-6)

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.  A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.”  (Psalm 37:7-11) This isn’t advocating doing nothing. The Bible clearly says “Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:9 However, when all we could do has been done, we should rest in God’s love and trust him.  Injustice shall not last even if it seems to prevail in this life.

“‘Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘Not a root or a branch will be left to them.  But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.  Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,’ says the Lord Almighty.” (Malachi 4:1-3)

“Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.” (Isaiah 26:19)  “’For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind…I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice of crying.’” (Isaiah 65:17-17)

“’Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no one went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, a joy of many generations…‘Instead of bronze I will bring gold, instead of iron I will bring silver, instead of wood, bronze, and instead of stones, iron. I will also make your officers peace, and your magistrates righteousness. Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.’” (Isaiah 60:15-18)

Even though it may look like evil will never end, it will. So don’t be discouraged. We can take God at is word and by faith look forward to the next world where there will be no more pain, where love and joy will replace cruelty and disappointment. You can depend on God’s promises.
