The book of Exodous starts out with a very stark introduction: “There arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Yosef (Joseph.)” Exodus 1:8.
Yosef (Joseph) was the 11th son of Jacob (Israel), the eldest son of " Jacob's old age." If you have not read in the acount in Genesis of Yosef (Joseph) and the Pharoah then before you go any further, read Genenesis 40:1-50:26.
Yom Yerushalayim, also known as Jerusalem Day, commemorates Jerusalem's reunification in 1967. This day begins on 28th day of the month of Iyyar in the Hebrew calendar...
I will be discussing the 10 plagues that G-d sent down by his judgment while at the same time protecting the Children of Israel and compare the Most High G-d with the ineffectual gods of the Egyptians. They were living in the land of Goshen at that time, which was given to the Children of Israel by the Pharaoh ruling at the time of Yosef. (Joseph)
Exo 7:5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
G-d could have crushed Egypt in the palm of His hand at any time He chose. Still, after each time Moses had entreated G-D He would show the Egyptians mercy. Yes G-D also loved the Egyptians.
Okay, here's a question for all you trivia buffs out there. When was the last time Chanukah came this early in the year?
Give up? Try 1899! That was the year that Queens and Staten Island became part of New York City, the Great Blizzard of 1899 pounded South Florida with snow, and fighting in Afghanistan continued to rage (then it was the British, but some things never change).
