Old City of Jerusalem in 90 Seconds

In this video you will be taken on a short tour of Jerusalem. It starts off with a camera being left on the ground that someone picks up to record the city for 90 seconds and ends with it being put back where it was, presumably for the next person to enjoy.

I thought it would be cool to think of how much more of the world we could see, even in the same town if we could look at things through the eyes of someone else. Even two people in the same city can take very different paths and reveal so much more than we would normally see ourselves. This made me think of something I read in the Bible.

“For everything written in the past was written to teach us, so that with the encouragement of the Tanakh we might patiently hold on to our hope. And may God, the source of encouragement and patience, give you the same attitude among yourselves as the Messiah Yeshua had, so that with one accord and with one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. So welcome each other, just as the Messiah has welcomed you into God’s glory. For I say that the Messiah became a servant of the Jewish people in order to show God’s truthfulness by making good his promises to the Patriarchs, and in order to show his mercy by causing the Gentiles to glorify God — as it is written in the Tanakh, ‘Because of this I will acknowledge you among the Gentiles and sing praise to your name.’ And again it says, ‘Gentiles, rejoice with his people.’”  Romans 15:4-10

When we are open to learning about the lives of others both in and out of the Bible, past and present we can broaden our understanding of the world. This can provide us with new perspectives and help us build connections with others outside of our own social class and nationality. Think of your own life as a short tour of the earth that you can share with others that come along your path. Think of others as carriers of knowledge and experience even if the path they have walked in life is very different from your own. We rob ourselves of so much wisdom when we are not willing to take the time to see the world from another point of view.
