t’s that time of year again, where, in the Northern Hemisphere, old man winter gives way to the rebirthing of the tender green leaves of Spring. For Jews world-wide, this is also time for the Passover remembrance. But what is being remembered? It is an observance of How G-d chose His leader, Moses, to lead His people from under the bondage of slavery by the Egyptian Ruler Pharaoh.
Enslaved and defeated by one empire after another, Israel still stands today! The gates of hell will not prevail against Israel. During the days of Moses. God’s people, the Israelites, were tossed about and became subservient to a wealthy Egyptian society. God having heard the plea of His people, sent into Egypt Moses, who was commanded by God to go to Pharaoh to ask for the release of His people so that they could worship the L-rd. But Pharaoh, being unimpressed with Moses, dismissed him. In his haughtiness, Pharaoh continued to dismiss Moses and refused to let God’s people go.
Moses shows many signs and wonders in the form of plagues with his rod that still did nothing to move the hardened heart Pharaoh had. So one night the Lord sent the Angel of death to kill the first born of every Egyptian and even the first born of Egyptian animals. However, G-d instructed Moses to tell every Jewish slave to place blood marks on their outside doorposts. When the Angel of Death appeared, those with that blood were spared from tragedy, God was protecting His people.
Passover is here again. Is G-d real? Is He a King? What plans does the L-rd have for Israel? Jews have been returning to their Promised Land steadily since 1948. Will all Jews return to the land God has given to the them?
