David and Goliath

David and Goliath

When David was a young man he went to take food to his brothers, who were fighting for Israel against the Philistines. He heard a Philistine man named Goliath defying God and challenging the Israelites. Goliath was 12 feet tall with armor protection. All the Israelites were afraid of him.

David went to the King and asked if he could go and fight against Goliath. King Saul responded, "You are only a youth." But David told him "I tend my father's sheep and any time a lion or a bear have come and taken one of the lambs, I have struck it and taken the lamb out of its mouth. If it rose against me, I would grab its beard and strike it and kill it. The Lord who delivered me from the lion and the bear will also deliver me from the hand of this Philistine."

David went out to meet Goliath with only a staff, a sling, and 5 smooth stones. When Goliath saw David he laughed and said, "Am I a dog that you come after me with sticks?" David confidently replied, "You come after me with a sword, with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."

The 12-foot giant came charging at David, but David was not afraid. He ran toward Goliath, grabbing a stone from his pouch, putting it in the sling and whipped it at Goliath's head. "Smack" the stone sank deep into his forehead, and Goliath fell to the ground, dead.

The Lord who delivered David from the lion, the bear, and Goliath will also deliver you! No matter how big your problems are today, you do not need to worry or fear; trust in God. He is able to protect you and see you through it victoriously.
